Fence Series Epos
Designer fence blends tradition and modernity
Although it is the first thing one notices about a building, the design of fences and property boundaries has, until now, been a neglected discipline within architecture.
This made it all the more exciting for us to work in this field for the first time. For the Viennese company Guardi, which specialises in the production and marketing of aluminium fences, we have developed an innovative fence design within the context of modern architecture.

As a nod to classic, traditional fences and in contrast to the current trend towards horizontal designs, we opted for a vertical slatted structure for the ‘EPOS’ fence.
The powder-coated finish, available in a range of colours, adds a modern touch. A technically sophisticated yet visually striking detail is the seamless transition from the fence slats to the horizontal support beam, which serves as a refined highlight, creating a connection and balance between familiar tradition and contemporary architecture.

Viewed from the outside, the sleek fence appears to have been cast in a single piece. We have also applied this design principle to structurally complex fence elements such as large sliding gates, pedestrian gates and double-leaf gates.

The spacing between the 1.5-centimetre-thick aluminium slats can be adjusted to either 20 or 30 millimetres. The rounded top caps of the fence slats are a defining aesthetic feature, creating a harmonious appearance.
As a timeless fence of the highest quality in terms of materials, the ‘Epos’ complements modern architecture – from detached houses to villas – with a stylish design accent.
