Shower Cabin Prestige
In close collaboration with the Austrian company Artweger, Studio F. A. Porsche developed the PRESTIGE shower enclosure series – a project that shows how technical innovation, formal clarity and a high level of user orientation can be combined in one product. At the heart of the design was a newly developed hinge that not only delivers top functional performance, but also blends harmoniously into the overall appearance of the shower series thanks to its minimalist and almost flush integration. The impetus for this arose from the desire to transform a technical element into a design highlight – functional, durable and visually restrained.

The PRESTIGE series focuses on the perfect symbiosis of form and function. This can only be achieved once the functionality of a product has been fully understood. The aim was to focus the shower series on the essentials and integrate functionality into the design. In the PRESTIGE, for example, the pivot hinge has been fully integrated into the bar profile. The hinge is therefore no longer directly visible and is perceived at first glance as a narrow, continuous profile with no visible plastic parts. In contrast to conventional systems, it does not protrude in any direction, appears less contrived and impresses with its geometric calmness. The design of the range is therefore unobtrusive, discreet and light, without appearing fragile. The timeless character and robust construction underline the high standards.

The function of the hinge has also been improved. This allows the door to be opened not only by the previous 180 degrees, but up to a full 360 degrees. The Prestige series is therefore characterized by a hinge that not only looks half as wide as conventional pivot showers, but can also be rotated twice as far.

In the same style, another tubular hinge rounds out the product line, offering a similar function but designed for direct mounting on the wall. In addition, a complementary mounting profile—which compensates for irregularities in the wall plaster—ensures a seamless appearance. A handle with a knurled grip and rubberized front surface is easy to grip even with wet hands and also acts as a gentle stop when the door is fully open, protecting the door material.
The hinges and accessories have been carefully coordinated with the current line of faucets in all their finish options to offer customers a seamless design solution.

With these elements, the design can be described as an evolutionary advancement of the shower. The series’ design is understated, subtle, and light, without appearing fragile. Its timeless character and robust construction underscore its high standards of sustainability.
