The Red Dot Design Award 2026 was awarded to the Chronograph 1 – 1975 Limited Edition in recognition of its outstanding design. The award once again confirms the studio’s commitment to combining timeless design with technical precision and functional clarity. Values that have characterised Studio F. A. Porsche since its foundation.

Hardly any other product embodies our studio’s design philosophy as profoundly as the Chronograph 1. With its creation, Ferdinand Alexander Porsche translated the design principles that had defined the Porsche 911 into a product beyond the automotive world for the very first time. Rather than relying on decorative elements, he placed uncompromising emphasis on perfect legibility, functional clarity and a form reduced to its essentials.

Introduced in the early 1970s, the Chronograph 1 also broke new ground with its all-black case, establishing a new visual language that would become an enduring icon of watch design. More than five decades later, it continues to express our founder’s guiding belief: lasting design is not the result of styling, but of function.
