New impetus

Electric mobility has not only given the automotive industry a new impetus in terms of design, but also the scooter industry, which is particularly significant in Asia. In recent years, the small two-wheeler sector – which had already experienced strong growth – has seen intense competition develop between established and start-up companies. To make our mark in this dynamic market, we have teamed up with Yadea to develop a range of models whose consistent design language underlines the brand’s aspirations whilst paving the way for further ranges.

With the VF F200 and the Fierider, Yadea has created a range of electric scooters that establishes a common, brand-defining design language across different vehicle types. Sculptural surfaces, clean lines and clearly defined proportions create a recognisable design language that combines dynamism, precision and reliability.

Despite their technical complexity, the vehicles have a cohesive and precise appearance. Shared design elements create a clear visual link between the models and form the basis for a distinctive Yadea brand family. At the same time, each vehicle retains its own individual character and is consistently tailored to its specific use and target audience.

This gives rise to a design family that not only creates individual products, but also establishes a recognisable identity for future Yadea models over the long term.

A defining feature of the design family is the lighting design. At the front, LED headlights and the slender position lamp create a distinctive visual signature, whilst the integrated rear light continues the design theme at the rear. The lighting design was not viewed as a purely functional element, but as an integral part of Yadea’s new design language.

The layout of the lights creates a distinctive look and gives the vehicles their own unique identity, even from a distance. At the same time, the Yadea logo is deliberately integrated into the lighting design, transforming it from a traditional brand emblem into an active design element. The brand is thus not only visible on the vehicle, but becomes an integral part of its form and appearance.

This lighting signature is particularly effective in urban settings. Against the night-time cityscape of Shanghai, the vehicles become clearly recognisable ambassadors for the brand and stand out from the competition thanks to their distinctive lighting design. This creates a visual identity that extends beyond individual models and serves as a unifying element for the entire design family.

During development, particular emphasis was placed on the elements that define the brand, whilst never losing sight of the functional requirements. All relevant touchpoints were viewed holistically as part of the user experience and consistently coordinated with one another. This approach is immediately evident in the product: brand, function and user experience intertwine to create a consistent, recognisable overall experience.
