Its legendary interchangeable lens mechanism is what makes the P’8478 unique to this day. Thanks to a precise quick-release mechanism, the distinctive teardrop-shaped lenses can be swapped in a matter of seconds and flexibly adapted to changing light conditions.The result is a pair of sunglasses that uniquely combines functionality, innovation and timeless aesthetics.

Even decades after its launch, the P’8478 continues to embody the Porsche Design philosophy. Clean lines, minimalist forms and the consistent avoidance of anything superfluous define its timeless character.

Crafted from high-quality, ultra-light titanium in a refined silver finish, it combines technical innovation with uncompromising elegance.

The package includes two sets of interchangeable lenses: grey, mirrored gradient lenses and coloured lenses to suit different lighting and style requirements. Both versions are made from scratch-resistant, shatterproof polycarbonate and offer 100% UV protection.

Since its development in 1978, the P’8478 has been continuously updated with new colour and material options. To this day, the original design sketches and technical drawings serve as the basis for the model, preserving the timeless character and design integrity of this iconic piece.
